Recap episode 5

Week 5: Challenge EpisodeThe Independence Day specialLagi Bet RoundAshita, Karishma and Sweeni - Vande Mataram + Bharat HumkoAshita, Karishma and Sweeni gave a dramatic performance to Vande Mataram and Bharat Humko amidst bombs and falling bodies, depicting the fact that despite 61 years of independence, we still live in fear and insecurity. Bhaktiyar, Chaitanya and Amey - HindustaniBhaktiyar, Chaitanya and Amey performed to Hindustani, with a theme similar to the girls' theme, with a bus blowing up, signifying an event from the past in which Amey lost his arm. Bhaktiyar and Chaitanya put their own arms behind their backs to show solidarity, and the trio gave a passionate performance, which won over the judges in the end.The boys added the 30 points they had bet to their final score for winning this round.Khallas RoundMouni - SaiyaanThe theme set by the girls' team was Contemporary dance. Mouni performed to Saiyaan, depicting an army officer's wife, eagerly awaiting his return. Her dancing leaned more towards ballet. Malaika hailed this as the best performance yet.Chaitanya - TanhaiChaitanya performed to Tanhai, in a withered, lonely setting. He ended his performance by swinging from two pieces of dangling cloth. His dancing style was more freestyle.Mouni's performance was chosen as the better of the two, and Delnaz and the girls chose to send Chaitanya to the bench, and use a lifeline to get Narayani back. Week 5: Performance EpisodeThe guest on the show were Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone and Minisha Lamba the cast of Bachna Ae Haseeno.1) Solo RoundGirls: Rupali - UP Bihar LootneRupali's solo performance was on UP Bihar Lootne, a performance that disappointed Malaika who said she expected much better from Rupali. Boys: Chaitanya - Dekho Chaand AayaChaitanya performed to Dekho Chaand Aaya, a performance loved by all, getting Chaitanya and the boys' team an additional 20 points. Chaitanya won the Clinic All Clear confidence award at the end of the episode for this performance. 2) Zara Hath keGirls: Karishma and Mouni - Kambakth ishqThe Zara Hath ke round's theme this week was 'ropes'. Teams had to incorporate ropes into their routines. Karishma and Mouni took on Kambakht Ishq and fared far better, bringing ultraviolet lights into the act with the fluorescent colors they sprayed their ropes with. The girls won over this round.Boys: Manish and Gaurav - AankheinManish and Gaurav began with a multicolored rope light, but on the whole performed rather abysmally to Aankhein, having problems with coordination and steps. 3) Hum TumJennifer and Amit - Khuda JaaneJennifer and Amit performed to a song from Bachna Ae Haseeno, Khuda Jaane. Ranbir and Deepika said the performance gave them a complex. Both Jennifer and Amit received equal scores for this round.4) Group ActGirls: (5 + 1 performed) Bhoot hu mainThe girls danced to Bhoot hu Main, as the undead. At the very end, Mouni snuck up behind the judges and fell on their desk, scaring Malaika and Chunky somewhat vocally. The judges loved the performance, and Malaika even went on stage to hug the girls.Boys: (6 performed) Bachna ae HaseenoThe boys danced to the film's title track, Bachna Ae Haseeno, to disappointed reactions from the judges. Malaika found the performance stale, as she'd seen the boys use trumpets a few weeks earlier, and she also found nothing new in the steps.By the end of the show, the girls' team was ahead by 5 points, and they picked 'Contemporary' as the dance style for the Khallas round. The boys bet 30 points for Lagi Bet, and the judges wanted 2½ people to perform during Lagi Bet, which meant they wanted two adults and one child from each side.

Scores

Boys won for the first time with 291 points
Girls are in 286 points

Chunkey Pandey's Judging experience

When asked about his experience of judging, he says, "It's a very hostile atmosphere on the show. The very concept of the show is sexist. There is a very thin line between competition and being sexist. So you know there are little kids coming up to me and accusing me of being partial. The boys v/s girls thing is happening in schools also."When asked if there are any differences between co-judge Malliaka Arora and himself, he says, "Differences happen everywhere and we are mature adults so we handle the situation very gracefully. Moreover the judges' decision is final. So there is a thing going on between the judges and the contestants. See, there is neck to neck competition going on. I judge these guys like a common audience. I don't see any techniques. I just enjoy myself."Rachit Kamath, Hill Road Media

Chaitanya Benched

We spoke to Chaitanya regarding the whole incident and this was what he had to say. "The judges always believed that I was never up to the mark. In spite of my severe leg and back injury I gave my 100%. Mouni is a trained dancer so it was much easier for her. I feel terrible that I have been benched. I always wanted to be by my team's side. Even though I have been benched I will practice hard and will give a much better performance next week."When asked to elaborate on his injuries, he adds, "Last week when I was dancing I was using a chair as a prop. I slipped with the chair and fell on my ankle. Meanwhile, I also severely hurt my back. The doctor told me to take a month's bed rest. But I had two dance performances immediately after my injury. I even performed with a sprained ankle. Now that I am benched at least I will get a week's rest." Rachit Kamath, Hill Road Media

Recap Week 4

Week 4: Challenge Episode

After winning the performance episode the Meethi Churi Lakdiyan bet 23 points and the boys threw the challenge of Popping & locking in the Khallas round to the girls. The girls accepted the challenge. The reason they threw a challenge of this style is that the audience can see more variety of dance styles on no other show but only on Zara Nach Ke Dikha.

The Lagi Bet Round

Boys Performance: Two team members were asked to do this round by the judges. From the boys team Vikas S & Chaitanya performed on the song Krazzy 4 where one was Shahrukh and the other Hrithik. The judges were not very happy with the performance put up by them.

Girls Performance: The girls Mouni & Ashita performed on the song Nach Nach from the Film Nach. Ashita during the performance had a wardrobe malfunction, but even then she didn't stop the act. The judges were floored by their performance and appreciated their act and guts to carry on and not stop, they were highly impressed by the concept and choreography, and the girls won this round.

Khallas Round

Boys Performance: Bakhtiyar came forward from the boy's team to do the Popping & Locking dance style. He performed on the song Main Aisa kyon hoon from the film Lakshya. He was applauded by all for his effort.

Girls Performance: Narayni came from the girls side and had every one in shock at her movements & attitude. Her act not only had popping & locking, it also had a bit of Bhanjara. At the end of the episode a girl was seated on the penalty bench.

Week 4: Performance Episode
Girls Solo Performance: The first performance of the day was by the girls' team leader Delnaz Paul who danced to Khallas. This was preceded by a very Mahabharat introduction, complete with excessive echo following Delnaz's words and shells being blown.
Boys Solo Performance: Gaurav Chopra and the rest of the boys' team introduced their solo act with the rest of the boys providing the echo verbally. Gaurav dramatically performed to Yeh Veeraniya, during the course of which he was murdered and banished to hell, where he pined for his lost love. The boys' team won the round, and managed to tie their score with the girls, who they had been trailing behind for over a week.

Zara Hath Ke Round - Theme 'Body in Contact'Girls Performance: Narayani and Rupali tackled the Spirit of Rangeela where they depicted good (Narayni) and evil (Rupali) in an overtly suggestive but enjoyable (as made obvious by Chunky) performance. For this performance, Narayani and Rupali were jointly awarded the Clinic All Clear Confidence award at the end of the episode, as Malaika thought they qualified as a single performer.

Boys Performance: Amey and Manish in a heart-wrenching depiction of father and son to Tujhse Naraaz. Amey was left with four days of life, which Manish was working towards making the most of. The performance ended with Amey dying, and bitter tears from Manish. This cued even more tears from the rest of the performers, and Malaika.Hum Tum RoundAfter getting the cast to stop weeping (or perhaps in order to) Swini and Amey performed for the Hum Tum round to What is Mobile Number, which finally got an encore to roaring demand.

Group Act
Girls Performance: Dancing in front of a glittery pink female gender symbol, dressed as a multitude of female role models; a pilot, business woman, judge, doctor, tennis player, and police officer. Ashita stood out during this performance, according to Malaika.

Boys Performance: Only five of the boys performed in this round. It began with Ali and Chaitanya dancing to Radha Kaise na Jale followed by the rest of the boys joining in to an extremely well received Koi Kahein, which had an encore that Malaika joined in for, followed soon after by Chunky and the anchors, the rest of the boys, and the entire girls' team. The boys won the Group Act round, which brought their final score to 1 point over the girls' team. This put them in a position to choose a dance style for the Khallas round, and forcing the girls to bet a number of points for the Lagi Bet round. The judges suggested that the girls not get carried away and not bet too liberally, which after a long session in the strategy room, the girls decided to bet 23 points, citing astrological

Chunky Pandey

Chunky Panday is an Indian film actor and has appeared in over 55 movies in a career that has spanned over two decades.Personal lifeChunky's real name is Suyash Sharad Panday, but is also known as Chandrakant Pandey. He married Bhavna in 1998 and has two daughters. He decided to make a comeback to Bollywood in 2002 and ended up appearing in over a dozen movies. Apart from appearing in movies, Chunky is also involved in a business 'Bollywood Electric' which hosts stage shows. He and wife Bhavna also run a health food restaurant in Mumbai.CareerStarting out his Bollywood career in 1987, with the film Daraar, Chunky shot to the spotlight with his role in Tezaab (1988). This was the first big break for him and he received a nomination as a best supporting actor from his performance in the film. Since then he has appeared in many films with mixed success throughout the late 1980s and 1990s. Unfortunately for Pandey, many of his films in which he had the leading role never did well at the box office. It was always his secondary leading roles that made the most impact. He was noted from his pairing with Govinda in the blockbuster hit film Aankhen (1993) and with Sunny Deol in Paap Ki Duniya (1988), Vishwatma (1992) and Lootere (1993) all of which were box office hits. His career began to fade from the limelight in the mid 90s due to the rising popularity and demand of megastars such as Aamir Khan, Shahrukh Khan, and Salman Khan. As a result, Pandey traveled to Bangladesh in the late 1990s to keep his acting career alive. Surprisingly Chunky became a superstar overnight in Bangladesh, starring in numerous Bengali movies. Ironically, Pandey had never spoken Bengali and his voice was dubbed over. After his hiatus from Bollywood since 1999, Pandey returned in 2002 playing supporting roles in Qayamat: City Under Threat (2003), Elaan (2005) and Ssukh (2005). Pandey was then critically acclaimed for his performance in Ram Gopal Varma's gangster thriller D - Underworld Baadshah (2005). In 2006 he won praise for his comical performance as a Nepali gangster in Apna Sapna Money Money and made a brief appearance in Don (2006). Recently he appeared in the multi-starrer action comedy Fool and Final. He is also associated with the upcoming Johnny Depp movie Shantaram.

Its captain Ali Asgar vs Captain Delnaaz Paul

After the boys Tez Talwar team showcased their individual and collective talent on Monday, the girl's Meethi Churi team is now ready to set the dance floor on fire! To prove their caliber, the girls team first sent their sexiest member on to the floor - Karishma Tanna, who kindles fire with "Zara zara touch me". Stroking the fire is a class act by Roopali Ganguly to "Aaja Nach le", re-living the Parveen Babi era is Manini De's sizzling performance of "Jawane- Jaaneman" and "Raat Baki". Jennifer Winget adds oil to the sizzle with a scorching rendition of "Ye Raat'. What follows is Girl Power at its best. The Meethi Churi girls pay tribute to the best dances in Hindi Films in their group act. Amidst interesting mix of great dance performance, banter between the teams, Tez Talwaar and Meethi Churi Team unanimously selected their team captains. Ali Asgar took oath as Team Captain of the boy's team. Girl's team voted Delnaz Paul as their leader. Both captains swore to leave no stone unturned to defeat each other in the biggest dance battle between the sexes. If Monday saw 8 dashing dudes rock the dance floor with their electrifying moves then Tuesday episode offers no less! Bakhtiyar Irani will soon be seen in the dance reality show Zara Nachke Dikha. We had a chat with Bakhtiyar about it.Talking about choosing the show, he says, “If you have dates you will do the show. I am not a Rakhi Sawant who will say that I will do this again because I lost once. Whatever comes my way as an actor, I will do it to prove my talent.”One and a half year since Nach Baliye, Bakhtiyar thinks there are lots of things he still needs to prove. “I look different, my dance style has changed. Earlier I used to dance to prove my point. Now I will dance to show my growth as a performer,” he explains. The actor says reality shows are a part and parcel of the acting profession. “It is boring but is your job. Moreover this concept of a fight between girls and boys is different so I am sure we will have great reality masala than just a dance reality show. All eight of us will have a common choreographer. There are controversies in such shows but I will not get involved for sure.”On the other stuff he is doing, he reveals, “I am doing a daily comedy and Yes Boss too. I have finished shooting for Karzzzz which is releasing in October, one last song is remaining. I have seen the old film too so I am excited.”There are eight girls and eight boys in Zara Nachke Dikha which will be on air in the second week of July. The judges and hosts of the show have not been finalized.Editor

Karan Grover's message to his fans

Dr. Armaan is all set to don a new avatar as the host of Zara Nachke Dikha on Star One…Indya.com brings a message from your favourite Dr. Armaan from Dil Mil Gaye (Karan Singh Grover)…Read on to know more about his life, his journey on Star One and his new show…Hey folks!!I'm sure you all guys enjoyed the 'Girls v/s Boys' basketball game, we all put up on-screen in Dill Mill Gayye. Though it was just a scene, at a personal level, it was a real game for all of us. Braving the scorching heat, we girls and boys were eager to show each other our skills in basketball! But frankly it was just a good opportunity to prove whose the best-girls or boys.If you ask me, I have been out to prove that boys are best even in school and college when my buddies used to tease or scare the girls. Till today I remember the pranks we played on the girls and getting into silly competitions just to prove ourselves better. Oh it was such fun, we used to boo, cheer and blow catcalls at the girls.Even today, at least for me, those old times have just the same zing. And now I have a grand stage to take this never ending battle of the sexes onto the dance floor. You must be wondering Armaan and on the dance floor? Well, you always knew I had some hidden talent or the other so why not dancing. So my latest move is that I am all set to don up a new avatar by anchoring a sensational new show called 'Zara Nachke Dikha' on Star One. And you know who will be my co-host? It will be the sweet and witty Shweta Gulati. After an era of Dr. Armaan and Dr. Riddhima's tiffs on trivial issues, it'll be Karan and Shweta fighting it out for our own genders respectively. But to tell you the truth-I love girls and at no point do I want to pick fights with them. But you know how it is. We boys can neither live with the girls nor live without them also. Can I say girls are necessary evils, that at least I can't live without? Alright, if some of you didn't like what I just said then you can get back at me while watching the show. On my side will be 8 handsome hunks. I call them Tez Talwar Ladke. And on Shweta's side will be 8 beautiful women. Shweta calls them Meethi Churi Ladkiyan. Finally, all you girls, please take care! Because I love you but just cant help teasing you and enjoy your beautiful company….so lets have a lot of fun together and play this mother of battles and decide whose the best girls or boys. If you ask me, it's a difficult choice as I love girls! So see you then and please do remember to tune in to Zara Nachke Dikha starting 14th July, at 930pm every Monday and Tuesday only on Star One!! Also please do support my boys! GOD SAVE THE GIRLS!!! Dr. Armaan

Ashita Dhavan’s excited about her first reality show!

“I always wanted to be a part of a reality show especially dance as I’m a born dancer! I was nervous when I was about to do my first performance but later on I just didn’t look at anyone and went and danced in full swing. I’m enjoying my self on the dance floor where dancing queen Malaika Arora Khan and Chunkey Pandey who I have seen in films like Tezaab and Aankhen are judges.” But doesn’t she find it difficult to manage her shoots and preparing for the show? “There is no problem but sometimes it does get very hectic when my Bidaai shoot is at 6 am and after that I have to go for rehearsals then come for the dance shoot. So now I find myself really busy. But I guess like they say no gain without pain.” “Also luckily for me the Bidaai Production team are very impressed with my acting especially the takia kalam which I have incorporated in my dance Tathaiya..Kyunki Main Jooth nahi bolti,” adds Ashita. So make sure you watch Ashita Dhavan as she balances her show Sapna Babul Ka Bidai and Zara Nach Ke Dikha.Dhanashri Kulkarni, Hill Road Media

Amit Tondon on an experimental spree!

Yes. It’s a great experiment for me as until now the audiences have seen me as a singer and now they will be watching me as a Punjabi dancer. I like the concept of this show of ladka vs ladki and mostly there is no elimination which I think will boost the show,” says Tondon. Even my rapport with all the contestants is very good as they are my two co-stars Mouni Roy and Vikas Sethi with whom I have worked in Kyunki… so its great fun. I like to experiment myself and surely this show will boost my album sales which will be releasing in the next few days. In my album I have done everything … dancing, singing so this will be great opportunity to display my own album.” “All the contestants are very hard working especially all my boys including me though I’m not going to perform as I’m there on the penalty bench. From this show I will get experience from someone like Malaika Arora Khan who knows all the technical aspects of dancing. And its great as my wife Ruby has come to see my first dancing reality show,” he adds. When are you coming back as Manthan in Kyunki? “No idea about my return in the serial as I’m busy with this show” Amit Tondon seems to be enjoying his experimental process on Zara Nachke Dikha!Dhanashri Kulkarni, Hill Road Media

Chunkey Pandey enjoys being Judge

Says Chunky, "Earlier I was a little hesitant but when I came to know that my co-judge is Malaika who is a family friend of mine I was fine. My job is to take a close look at their dancing style and to add a little bit of humour. Maliaka will take care about the technicalities as she has ample experience of judging dance reality shows." The actor is thoroughly enjoying his new avatar. "I like the concept of boys challenging girls on the dance floor. When I go home my 9 year old daughter tells me girls are the best dancers and they should win! During my days I was a very bad dancer but I think my role in Apna Sapna Money Money gave me this chance of turning a judge." Chunky's last film was Fool N Final. Now he will be seen in Anubhav Sinha's Sankat City, Anil Kapoor's Shortcut and Mukta Arts' Hello Darling. Dhanashri Kulkarni, Hill Road Media

Malaika Arora 'Judge' Khan

"I'm really enjoying this. I love this unique concept of ladka vs ladki. I will look out minute details. As a dancer I know how to judge but I must thank Saroj Khan for what I have learnt from her. I really miss her. All the contestants are marvellous and have put in lots of efforts especially the two kids Swini and Amey are superb. I love Amey's dancing style. Whenever he comes on the dance floor, he just steals our heart," says Malaika. Any more item numbers in the offing? "If I get something good I will definitely do it." Ali loves playing pranks. "From my childhood days I was famous for my mimicry so no surprise that I became a comedian. But my wife is enjoying my first dance show. She cannot believe that I can dance. I hope I'm not caught in the penalty bench so I'm working hard on everything from expressions to attitude. I hope that like I won my first comedy stand-up reality show I and my team will also win Zara Nach Ke Dikha."

ZND is like IPL: Manish Goel

"I'm enjoying my dancing. One must dedicate a lot of time for rehearsals so now I'm working accordingly. After one month we all tez talwar boys have now become friends. We share our lunch and are very supportive of each other. It's a dance war between girls and boys. Though there are some unwanted comments made by girls we tend to give it back through dancing. My act with Amey was appreciated by the judges. Even our fellow contestants were in tears."Finally, why are girls ahead of boys in every around? "I think it's their good luck. But everyday is not a Sunday. This show is like IPL. Anything can happen during crunch time," he warns. Dhanashri Kulkarni, Hill Road Media

Girls always win the race."Tell us about Kyunki? "I really can't reveal much but yes there are going to be twists in KT, Eklavya and Lakshya's life," she says.
